Ammunition disposal programme

Enlarge image The shipment and installation of a mobile ammunition disposal plant was the focal point of the years 2001 to 2004. 

In this container based plant the NDF is able to destroy and dispose ammunition. The concept was to dispose of all old stock ammunition and to provide Namibia with the possibility to offer this to neighborinh countries within the framework of peacekeeping efforts. 

The plant was commissioned in December 2002. Until April 2006 the ammunition disposal site was operated together with the German Advisory Group for training reasons. Since 2007 the plant is the responsibility of the NDF.
