In March and April 2011 ten members of the NDF completed a two-month training in Namibia and South Africa as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). The course was organised by the German Advisory Group in co-operation with the Action Training Academy International Division and the University of Johannesburg.
Certificates were handed over to the successful trainees on 27 May 2011 by the German Ambassador to Namibia, Mr Egon Kochanke, in the presence of high-ranking officials both from the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Health and Social Services.
The professional training was provided within the framework of a long-standing co-operation between the NDF and the German Armed Forces, specificially aimed at enhancing the NDF's capabilities to participate in international peacekeeping operations.
The photograph shows the trainees together with Ambassador Egon Kochanke (2nd from right), Seargant Major Fabian Martens and Lt Col Andreas Moeller from the German Advisory Group (1st and 2nd from left), and Mr Trevor Justus and Pieter Schoeman from the Action Training Academy (1st from left resp. 1st from right, upper row).
